The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) has released an updated edition of its Voice-Data-Video (VDV) course, which it says allows its members to be the primary source of data communication training.
The VDV update, approved for 108 BICSI RCDD continuing education credits, includes the 2005 National Electric Code (NEC) and additional in-depth content on each of the course’s five key modules: Introduction to Communications, Copper Communications, Fiber Optic Communications, Cable Pathways, Cable Management and Closets, and Electronics, Telephony and Sound Systems
In addition, the new edition includes three new chapters on Wireless Networks, Home Networks and Video Systems.
"The course is based on the comprehensive knowledge of industry veterans detailed in a series of textbooks ideal for self-study," the organization said. "These workbooks utilize electrical manufacturer’s catalogs to give distributor staff members a true-to-life training of the data communications field.
The latest VDV course update is available to association members and affiliates for US$509. Replacement workbooks can be purchased for US$95, and replacement blueprints are free of charge.
