HAMILTON, ON — Hamilton Health Sciences has installed a voice communications system by Mitel Networks, aimed at ensuring reliable communication throughout its four hospitals. Mitel has also donated 320 telephones to furnish patient rooms.
The new equipment is part of a completely new communication system that replaces an aging system that frequently caused the suspension of critical activities.
“This is an example of where voice communications — and the ability to be in contact with skilled medical staff — can be a lifesaver,” says Don Smith, CEO of Mitel.
The new system gives Hamilton Health Sciences a robust network across its campus and a communication platform that performs as though all staff members are in the same facility. The Mitel system can also connect with non-Mitel systems to form a virtual private network.
